Why I Love this Book: When I pre-ordered this book for myself I included a note to myself. I do this a lot, that way when the book shows up it's like a present from past me. This note read " Get ready to laugh, and cry and possibly throw this book across the room. Maggie always breaks your heart in the best way possible" and holy shit, was this an accurate note. I was right on all counts, and at one point I yelled (loudly) "What the actual fuck Maggie!" then closed the book, then re-opened it and reread the sentence to make sure I hadn't accidentally dreamt the reveal in existance. Readers... I did not dream it up. There is in fact a twist that in retrospect I should have probably realized, but I did not. All the kudos to Steifvater for always keeping us on our toes and on guard for the worst. Or the best. With Steifvater you never know... and that it why I love all her books. They are magical and difficult and full of complicated, messy characters, and you root for them to find their way even as they are quite literally hurtling towards the end of the world and they might actually be the worst. I adore these choatic characters and the world Steifvater has created. I can't wait for the last installment of the Dreamer trilogy... but I need some time for my heart to recover first.
